Working Principle

During discharging, the lithium ions deintercalate from the negative electrode, flow through the electrolyte and across the separator, and intercalate into the positive electrode again. The electrons in the negative electrode also flow to the positive electrode through the external circuit, and the battery voltage continuously decreases until it reaches the discharging cut-off voltage.
